Keeping your Artificial Flowers Clean

Silk Flowers, properly called artificial flowers as few are actually made of silk today, can be a nice addition to the home. While I always prefer fresh flowers, I acknowledge that there are times when a person might want or need to use artificial flowers- for example the cost of keeping a fresh arrangement in the home might be burdensome for some people and cut flowers might not be available in the garden. That said, buy the best artificial flowers you can afford which will provide the most natural looking flowers and subsequently arrangements. Little care will be needed to provide years of enjoyment but they will become dusty and I recommend using canned air (available at office supply stores) to "dust" the arrangements on a weekly basis.

If the arrangement is in the kitchen or a close proximity to the kitchen it will need to be replaced yearly or even more often depending on the type of cooking done in your home. Artificial flowers are a magnet to the airborn grease and will become filthy in a hurry. No amount of canned air will help an artificial arrangement in this environment.
