Kitty Cats and Easter Lilies don't mix!

Thousands, if not millions, of people will be receiving the beloved Lilium longiflorum or Easter Lily today and tomorrow to celebrate the Christian Holiday, Easter.  The venerable Easter Lily is a mainstay plant for gifting in the Spring around Easter. While the beauty of the plant trumphets the triumph of Easter and heralds the message of hope for believers the lilies do present problems for some.

According to the The National Animal Poison Control Center, L. longiflorum and certain other types of lilies can cause renal (Kidney) failure, and death,  in cats that have ingested any part of the lily. Rose of Sharon Florist recommends keeping lilies out of the reach of cats. It is important to note that lilies do not pose a problem for other pets or humans."
